The Glenn Miller Orchestra Touring Australia

Musical Director Rick Gerber
FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER IN AUSTRALIA
DIRECT FROM THE USA...
The Unforgettable Music of the 1940’s
From The Golden Era of Swing
including
‘Chattanooga Choo-Choo’ & ‘In the Mood’

Touring Australia in October and November -The Glenn Miller Orchestra, a concert spectacular that promises the audience a sentimental journey down memory lane on the eve of Glenn Miller’s 75th anniversary.

Featuring the internationally renowned Glenn Miller Orchestra, The Moonlight Serenade Singers and The Broadway Swing Dancers, the great ‘Big Band’ hits, the original Glenn Miller arrangements, the music of The Andrews Sisters, the Frank Sinatra Songbook, the romantic World War II melodies made famous by Vera Lynn – music which captivated millions of people worldwide- are all brought together on stage in a nostalgic concert spectacular.

Even after 75 years, Glenn Miller’s musical arrangements are still heard around the world – timeless icons of American culture such as Chattanooga Choo-Choo, In the Mood, Tuxedo Junction, A String of Pearls, Moonlight Serenade, Little Brown Jug and Pennsylvania 6-5000 to name a few.

“The Glenn Miller Orchestra is a colourful and flamboyant evening filled with fun and nostalgia of the 30s and 40s. Our unique jazz sound is sought all around the world and in addition to recreating the golden era of swing, we bring to life the colour, costumes and spirit. Having travelled across the globe, The Glenn Miller Orchestra is delighted to be bringing iconic tunes such as In the Mood and Moonlight Serenade to Australia,” said Musical Director Rick Gerber.

Bandleader and musician Glenn Miller inspired the World War II generation and boosted morale with his many popular songs. He formed the Glenn Miller Orchestra in 1937, which immediately attracted attention and big crowds to venues, and a series of recordings followed. In 1939, Miller dominated the top spot on the various popular music charts for over a year, with In the Mood, a pared-down arrangement of the Joe Garland tune, holding the top spot for over fifteen weeks at the beginning of 1940 and Tuxedo Junction taking over and keeping Miller at number 1 into the summer.

On February 11, 1941 Miller was presented with the first ever Gold record for Chattanooga Choo-Choo. In 1942, at the peak of his civilian career, Miller decided to join the war effort. At 38, Miller was too old to be drafted, he persuaded the United States Army to accept him so he could, in his own words, "be placed in charge of a modernized Army band”. In 1944 Glenn Miller mysteriously disappeared whilst flying over the English channel from London to Paris. His original recordings continue to in the sell millions. His legacy as the most influential and famous bandleader of all time and the icon of the golden swing era and continues to inspire.

During the 1940’s Glenn Miller had more hit records than Elvis and the Beatles
“The Glenn Miller Orchestra is constantly touring, playing an average of 300 live dates a year all around the world. ATA Allstars is pleased to be able to bring this wonderful and popular show to audiences around Australia,” said Producer Tony Brady.

Simple Minds And Devo Take To Australia

Two rather different but very popular ‘80s pop acts are coming together for a big tour of Australia this December, as Simple Minds and Devo play a series of theatre and winery shows with support from Australian art-rock superstars the church and, for some shows, the Sean Kelly led Models.

Australia was the first territory to embrace the music of Simple Minds, their Love Song in 1981 was a massive hit here, as was the New Gold Dream (81-82-83-84) album which followed in 1982. Of course, after that, they became one of the world’s biggest bands with hits like Don’t You (Forget About Me) and Alive and Kicking which continue to be cherished the world over.

One of the most exciting, subversive and infectious acts of the post-punk era, Devo not only have a swag of hits, but a huge number of critically adored records which are seen to be some of the most influential among many modern bands. Likewise, their stage show has always been one that confounds and intrigues and their recent visits as headliners of the Splendour In The Grass and Livid festivals have shown that they have not lost any of what made them so exciting.

Alongside the long-standing Australian legends of alternative pop and rock music the church and groundbreaking Aussies Models (who play the A Day On The Green winery dates in the Yarra Valley, Perth, Hunter Valley and Brisbane's Mt Cotton), these shows are set to showcase some of the finest music that came out of the 1980s but is still completely relevant and exciting today.
Tickets are on sale Monday 2 July. Dates are below.

Elton John in Concert - Shows Australia

An endorsement from the one and only Elton John is one like no other; and so after the great success of teaming up together for Elton’s last tour of Australia, Chugg Entertainment are today thrilled to confirm that Eran James will be supporting once again for the shows in the Hunter Valley on Saturday 3 & Sunday 4 December at Hope Estate as well as the Adelaide show at Coopers Brewery on Friday 9 December.

Eran James has come a long way from the precocious child star with a record deal at 13 and a New York studio album under his belt at 16. Now 22 and an accomplished guitarist, keyboard man and songwriter, Eran has transformed from 'the beautiful boy with the beautiful voice' to a strong sensitive passionate singer-songwriter in the mould of a Jackson Browne or Cat Stevens.

Eran sings and writes about his extraordinary life, his personal joys and sorrows and his hopes and fears for the world's underdogs. He puts a lot of this change down to Elton John, who spotted Eran's potential and became his personal advisor.

Of his thoughts on Elton John, Eran James said "I regard Elton very much as a friend as well as a mentor. I supported his 2008 Aussie tour and he invited me back to the UK where I spent two very hard but fulfilling years developing as a writer and musician. When Elton decides that you have something special he really wants to bring it out. Rufus (Wainwright), Lily (Allen), me and others are the recipients of this wisdom and generosity. He encouraged me to grow as a writer and performer and to stick to the music which meant the most to me. Being back on the road with Elton is an immense pleasure.”

Don’t miss the rare opportunity to hear one of the world’s greatest pop musicians in spectacular form when the Rocket Man touches down this summer.

Alice Cooper in Concert - Australia First!

Chugg Entertainment is thrilled to put all suspicions at bay, allay all fears, and quash all rumours, as today we confirm that come September, not only will the master of macabre, Alice Cooper, be here for his headline theatre performances in Sydney and Melbourne, but he will also be adding shows in Brisbane, Perth and a second night in Melbourne.

Since the cancellation earlier this month of the Soundwave Revolution festival tour, many of the affected artists have been rumoured as not making their way down to Australia this September. But Alice is definitely coming.

Kicking off in New Zealand with a show at The Trusts Stadium in Auckland on Thursday 22nd September, the tour then hits Australia to kick off a run of dates starting in Brisbane on Saturday 24th September at the Brisbane Convention Centre, then down to Sydney for the Enmore Theatre show on Monday 26th September. Melbourne-bound, Alice Cooper will then play two nights at the Palais Theatre; the already scheduled Thursday 29th September show, and the newly added Friday 30th September date. Then it's west they head for the last show on the Australian run in Perth at Challenge Stadium on Sunday 2nd October.

Alice brings the "No More Mr Nice Guy" show, which has played to audiences in North America, South America and Europe since May, and which has received rave reviews from both fans and media worldwide. His highly anticipated return to Australia & New Zealand coincides with the release of his new Welcome 2 My Nightmare album, out through Sony Music on Friday 23rd September. The album, produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin - who also produced the original "Welcome To My Nightmare" album in 1975 – features a host of special guests (including the three other surviving members of the original band, "Nightmare" guitarists Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, Alice's touring band, Vince Gill, Rob Zombie, and, most shockingly, Ke$ha) as Alice revisits his legendary nightmares.

The original release is an all-time rock classic that spawned a worldwide theatrical tour and certified Alice Cooper as a visionary trailblazer whose influence persists today in rock, metal, pop, punk, theatre, television, film and much more. More than 35 years later, Alice and Ezrin have resurrected the horror and humor for a new generation.

As if that weren't exciting enough, this run of trans-Tasman shows will also mark the introduction of a new member of Alice's touring band, fittingly enough in this pocket of the world. Australia's own eminent guitar prodigy, Orianthi, debuts with Alice, joining guitarist Steve Hunter (who famously toured and recorded with Alice on "Welcome To My Nightmare" and Lou Reed with "Rock 'n Roll Animal," among many others) and Tommy Henriksen, along with drummer Glenn Sobel and longtime bassist Chuck Garric.

In what is certain to be a sensory overloading spectacle, the man who first introduced horror imagery to rock 'n roll, and whose stagecraft and showmanship have permanently transformed the genre, will be blowing the roof off theatres from coast to coast. Do not miss out!
