What's On Ipswich: Often I Find That I Am Naked - Ipswich Events

From Critical Stages and Jo Thomas, Often I Find That I Am Naked by Fiona Sprott is a rich, wickedly funny piece of cabaret-theatre. It takes a comic and brutal look at single life for an Australian woman, reflecting stories from popular culture and wedged within the romantic comedy genre of hits such as Sex and the City and Bridget Jones Diary.

Speed dating, Facebook, text sex, RSVP, a private detective, STD clinics, rehab... so many tools available for the modern single woman looking to meet Mr Right! The problem is just how many Mr Wrongs make a Right?

Of Mice and Men - Opera Australia Overview

The praise just keeps coming for award-winning tenor Anthony Dean Griffey. Now, at last, he makes his Sydney debut in a signature role, Lennie, in Carlisle Floyd’s Of Mice and Men. George and Lennie are migrant farmhands during the Great Depression. Their only home is a communal bunkhouse under the lonely prairie skies

Capriccio - Opera Australia Overview

Olivier has written a love poem. Flamand has set it to music. Both have dedicated their works to the beautiful Countess Madeleine. Her dilemma is acute: to choose between Olivier and Flamand, between words and music, seems almost cruel.

Is there no way that their powers can be combined, at least in art, if not in love? Cheryl Barker makes her role debut as the Countess in Richard Strauss’s meditation on opera and aesthetics. The story is wafer thin, the argument is unresolved, but the music is magnificent, a tangled web of operatic references and piquant melodies. Strauss’s final opera leaves us awed by the transcendent power of opera.

Director John Cox has a special relationship with Strauss: his recent production of Arabella was showered with awards. Now he is back to tease out the subtleties of Capriccio in this stunning production, set in the 1930s and inspired by the elegant lines of artist and fashion designer Erté.
