Elvis to the Max - The King in Concert

Featuring – Max Pellicano

It’s 35 years since the passing of “The King”, but Elvis Presley’s legend lives on in the guise of Max Pellicano, whose uncanny resemblance and thrilling performances have mesmerised Australians over the last two decades.

Max’s tribute goes beyond impersonation. His looks, moves, vocal style, impressions and humour are so accurate it’s truly amazing. The attitude – shy but confident – that Max Pellicano mimics, with a rich Mississippi drawl, is typically Elvis. Even his costumes are exact replicas, made by Elvis’s personal tailor.

The Elvis To The Max production, The King In Concert, will be presented in three stages: King of Rock ‘n’ Roll – the '50s Masters; the ’68 Comeback TV Special that was regarded as a forerunner of the “Unplugged” concept; and the music concert called Aloha From Hawaii.  In true Elvis-style, Max will be supported by an 11-piece band and four back-up singers.

Elvis To The Max – The King In Concert is being presented in Australia by Abstract Entertainment.

Show Dates: Friday 19 April 2013

Les Miserables Stage Show Coming Back To Australia - Hugh Jackman Will Not Be In It

Revolutionaries rejoice! Cameron Mackintosh’s stage musical ‘Les Miserables’ is set to return to Australia next year!

The British Cameron Mackintosh confirmed this morning that his new 25th anniversary production of Les Mis would be re-staged with an all-Australian cast at Melbourne's Her Majesty's Theatre from June 2014 – but, Hugh Jackman won’t be in it!
Jackman just played Jean Valjean in the Tom Hooper film adaptation of the production, yet Cameron revealed "No, Hugh won't (be cast). There'd be no reason for him to do it; and he's busy with his other projects."

"I'd love to get Hugh back on the stage doing something, but it wouldn't be Jean Valjean. The stage show and the film are completely different things, even though they complement each other."

Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe perform at Oscars!
He also added that the Australian production would be part of a larger global tour, taking in Canada, America, Japan and South Korea - and that it will probably tour around the country, after opening in Melbourne.

"At the moment, I'm concentrating only on the initial season, but I'm sure it will branch out to other cities," he said.

Tickets will go on sale in October this year, for a June 2014 opening.
Anne Hathaway just scored best supporting actress for her role in Les Miserables the movie, and we don’t see the show’s popularity waning any time soon!

Linkin Park – Living Things World Tour w/ Stonesour

Multi-award winning rock icons LINKIN PARK are thrilled to announce two sideshows only (Sydney & Melbourne) on the back of the sold out Soundwave Festival.

As part of their Living Things world tour, these shows will surely be two of the biggest international rock shows over the summer of 2013.

Since their 2000 debut album ‘Hybrid Theory’, LINKIN PARK have spent the last 12 years doing something popular artists just don’t do:  going off-menu.  The learning curve was arduous, but a necessary and welcome challenge for the band.

‘Hybrid Theory’ isn’t just the title of the first album, but a career mission statement.  From day one, LINKIN PARK built the band upon the premise of fusing all of their favourite styles of music—as disparate as they might be—into one signature sound.

Fast-forward 12 years to ‘Living Things’ and LINKIN PARK have not only developed new tools to make that philosophy a reality, but they’re finally comfortable embracing—and coalescing—every aspect of their career.

Once again they have made the courageous leap into the unknown.  “Living Things” is a personal album, centred on human emotions and relationships implied by the title.

It is informed by and built upon all previous albums, while still pushing the band’s sound into new territory.  It’s spirited, energetic, daring and unafraid to hybridize the past, present and future.  This is absolute proof to a radical theory six musicians have devoted their lives to testing.

Joining LINKIN PARK for this date is STONE SOUR.

Ringo Starr Arrives in Brisbane

Ex-Beatles drummer Ringo Starr has arrived in Brisbane to kick-off his Australian tour.
Starr is touring the country with his newest All-Starr Band this month, starting in Brisbane on Monday night.

The supergroup is the twelfth incarnation of the All-Starr Band and includes Steve Lukather from Toto, Gregg Rolie of Santana and Journey fame, Mr Mister's Richard Paige, Gregg Bissonette, who played drums for Dave Lee Roth, and multi-instrumentalists Todd Rundgren and Mark Rivera.

While the likes of 'Yellow Submarine' and 'I'll Get By With A Little Help From My Friends' are regularly dusted off during an All-Starr tour, the show also sees each band member perform hits from their own career.
Starr hasn't played an instrument in Australia since the Beatles twisted and shouted their way across the world on their legendary 1964 tour.

He remembers the "screaming atmosphere" and says he can't wait to return for longer shows than The Beatles' historic performances.

Ringo and his All Starr Band tour dates:

February 11 - Brisbane Convention Centre
February 13-14 - Sydney Hordern Pavilion
February 16-17 - Melbourne Festival Hall
February 19 - Adelaide Entertainment Centre

Crew and Cast of Time Warp Choose Metro Hotel Ipswich International - Metro Hotels

It’s astounding, time is fleeting and madness will take its toll at the Metro Hotel Ipswich International this month when the cast and crew of Time Warp: the Original Rocky Horror Tribute Show move in.

With two performances at the Ipswich Civic Centre on February 20 and 21, Metro Hotel Ipswich International agreed to play host to the colourful cast of the outrageous Time Warp show, including the Sweet Transvestite from Transylvania, Frank N Furter.

While the hotel staff may want to take a step to the left when the cast and crew arrive, audiences will be jumping to the right, placing their hands on their hips and bringing their knees in tight as they reminisce the 70s, doing the Time Warp again with the talented cast of one of the craziest musical horror shows ever to grace the stage.

The Time Warp Tribute Show features many of Australia’s most talented musical theatre performers who boast having been involved in many of the country’s most loved musicals. The production was created by veteran theatre/television director Elissa Meyer-Thomas and has toured nationally, regionally and internationally to sell out houses.

The cast and crew elected to stay at the four and a half star rated Metro Hotel Ipswich International, which is boutique in size but equipped with all the facilities of a much larger hotel.

The hotel has 97 well-appointed rooms including 11 one-bedroom Serviced Apartments, two Executive Spa Suites, 68 Superior rooms and 16 Deluxe rooms in six storeys overlooking pristine parklands.

When not performing, the Time Warp cast and crew will be perfectly placed to enjoy everything Queensland’s oldest provincial city has to offer, including the Workshops Rail Museum, steam trains, more than 500 parks, wineries, cafes, restaurants, cinemas and shopping centres.

The hotel is also close to the many art galleries, markets, craft and antique stores that the city is renowned for, while the hotel’s signature restaurant Platform 9 serves a delicious a-la-carte menu. Adjoining the main restaurant is a stylish lounge and bar, perfect for catching a glimpse of cast members before or after the show.

For accommodation packages available at Metro Hotel Ipswich International, go to www.ipswichinternationalhotel.com.au or call the toll free Central Reservations line on 1800 004 321 or by calling the property direct on 07 3812 8077.
